Before and after cleaning of natural stone floor.
Commercial cleaning of natural stone floor.
  1. Dust mop stone flooring daily with an untreated mop or cloth.
  2. Damp mop daily with a solution of neutral stone floor cleaner, Lavenet or Lavenet Green.

How to clean natural stone showers and surfaces:
  1. For all stone tops and surfaces such as granite countertops and marble showers, we recommend cleaning daily with Akemi Crystal Clean. It safely removes light soap scum and dirt and will not etch (chemically burn) stone.

Natural Stone Sealing

The following recommendations should serve as a guideline. For specific situations or special cases, please contact International Stoneworks, Inc. or call us at (800) 775-TILE.

We always recommend cleaning (or stripping) your stone and grout prior to sealing. Click here for more information about natural stone cleaning or grout cleaning.

Natural Stone Sealing Guidelines:

These tips can be used for marble sealing, granite sealing, sealing travertine, limestone and terrazzo.

  1. We recommend protecting your stone at least once a year with Seal & Go® S or Seal & Go® W, water/stain repellent penetrating sealers.

Seal & Go® S is a water/stain repellent penetrating sealer. This sealer will not alter the natural appearance of stones. It will not add shine or color to the stone when applied correctly.

Seal & Go® W is a water-based, user friendly, environmentally friendly impregnating sealer. It contains no solvents and is VOC compliant in all 50 states.

For flamed granite sealing, slate sealing, and flagstone sealing:

  1. You can seal your flagstone, slate and flamed granite floors with Seal & Go® S or Seal & Go® W if you want a natural look.

We also offer Seal & Go® Enhancer S. This natural stone tile sealer is a water/stain color enhancer penetrating sealer. It will not add shine to the surface, but will darken or give more color to the stone when applied correctly.

  2. Another option is to seal with Seal Out. This topical sealer will give shine to the surface of the stone.

Grout Sealing

We always recommend cleaning (or stripping) your tile and grout prior to sealing. Click here for more information about grout cleaning.

Many people find grout sealing to be difficult, but it couldn't be any easier:

To seal the grout lines between ceramic, porcelain, and quarry tiles, we recommend sealing once a year with Seal & Go® S or Seal & Go® W, water/stain repellent penetrating sealers. These sealers will not alter the natural appearance of tile or grout when applied correctly.

Natural Stone Polishing

The following recommendations should serve as a guideline. For specific situations or special cases, please contact International Stoneworks, Inc.

  1. To maintain the polish on marble, limestone, travertine and granite countertops, spray a light application of Stone Essentials™ Countertop Polish on a weekly or monthly basis. (Do not use on floors.)

Marble, travertine and limestone are susceptible to "etch marks" (chemical burns) due to acid, ammonia, and alcohol. We hear people calling these marks "hard water spots," but really they are etch marks.

  2. To remove small etch marks such as glass rings, acidic spots from lemon, vinegar, etc., use the Etch Removing Kit.
