Many people opt not to have a smooth and shiny floor in their home or building. Instead, they choose cross cut, brushed, bush-hammered, antiqued, tumbled travertine or limestone. Other popular materials are slate, quartzite or even textured ceramic or porcelain tiles.<\/p>\n

However, over time dirt can get trapped in these textured tiles and grout lines and it can be quite difficult to remove this embedded dirt. Simple damp mopping cleans the surface of the tile, but mopping does not remove the trapped dirt; so what can we do remove this embedded dirt?<\/p>\n

If you call International Stoneworks, Inc. to professionally clean your textured stone or tile floor, we will scrub clean the floor with our Scrub Grit II Brush<\/a>. This brush is used for the medium to mildly aggressive cleaning of ceramic, porcelain, and quarry tile as well as textured travertine, slate and flagstone. It is also great for grout lines less than 1\/2″ in width.<\/p>\n

Rotary brushes<\/a> are a great solution. To increase the efficiency of the brushes, wet vacuuming immediately following the scrubbing is recommended.<\/p>\n

If your floor isn\u2019t in too bad a shape and you are a do-it-yourselfer, we also offer a scrub brush that can be used manually with a handle. It allows you to clean your textured floor and remove most of the embedded dirt.<\/p>\n

The cleaners that we usually recommend using with the scrub brush are Lavenet<\/a> neutral stone cleaner or Green Solutions Floor Finish Remover<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Green Solutions Floor Finish Remover<\/a> is specifically formulated to strip non-urethane floor finishes, wax, and acrylic sealers. It does not produce a strong odor. Green Solutions Floor Finish Remover<\/a> is fast acting and easy to use. It can also be used as a heavy duty cleaner.<\/p>\n

Ceramic, porcelain and quarry tiles can be thoroughly cleaned with a solution of MDR (Mineral Deposit Remover)<\/a>. Caution: MDR<\/a> contains an acid and will etch marble, travertine, limestone, terrazzo and flagstone.<\/i><\/p>\n

Please keep in mind that some embedded dirt can penetrate so deeply that it may stain the grout or stone. These stains may not come out.<\/p>\n
