My usual answer is: learn as much as you can about the <a href=\"https:\/\/intlstoneworks.com\/blog\/2014\/08\/12\/which-stone-do-you-have\/\">stone<\/a> itself. \u00a0Learn to recognize <a href=\"https:\/\/intlstoneworks.com\/blog\/2014\/01\/23\/granite-and-marble-common-misconceptions\/\">marble<\/a>\u00a0from <a href=\"https:\/\/intlstoneworks.com\/blog\/2014\/01\/23\/granite-and-marble-common-misconceptions\/\">granite<\/a>\u00a0from limestone, etc. Then, learn some of the general characteristics of the various stones. \u00a0No need to become a geologist, but learn instead about the <a href=\"https:\/\/intlstoneworks.com\/blog\/2014\/01\/23\/granite-and-marble-common-misconceptions\/\">hardness<\/a> (familiarize yourself with the Moh&#8217;s scale), porosity, and the acid resistance of the various stones.<\/p>\n<p>I felt proud of myself walking into the Duomo of Milan, identifying all the various, magnificent stones that cover the entire floor to my wife and family. &#8220;The red is Rosso Verona; the white a Carrara; and the black a Black Marquina.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1140\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1140\" style=\"width: 225px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/intlstoneworks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Duomo-Milano-floor.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-1140 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/intlstoneworks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Duomo-Milano-floor-225x300.png\" alt=\"duomo-milano-floor\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/intlstoneworks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Duomo-Milano-floor-225x300.png 225w, http:\/\/intlstoneworks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Duomo-Milano-floor.png 459w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1140\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Duomo Cathedral Floor<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>WRONG ON ALL COUNTS! I did not get one right. The red was in fact D&#8217;Arzo. The white is from Candoglia, while the black was from Varenna. What a humbling experience!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I have a suggestion.
